ERCA Ropes Course Training

ERCA Ropes Course Training and Qualifications

Arrampica provide ERCA training for high ropes courses, adventure parks and zip wires, with the majority of training being private courses specific to each facility.  We do occasionally run open courses, please contact us to register your interest.

ERCA Instructor and Rescuer qualifications are recognised at many ropes courses throughout the UK, Europe and other countries across the world, and are fully compliant with EN15567 Part 2.

The European Ropes Course Association consists of instructors, rescuers, trainers, builders and inspectors of ropes courses as well as organisations operating temporary ropes courses.

The organisation sets and upholds standards relating to construction, inspection, training and operation of ropes courses.

Arrampica are an Accredited Training and Inspection Body for ERCA and we deliver most of the training courses and assessments from the ERCA syllabus.

The ERCA Traditional Ropes Course Qualification is aimed at instructors who work on ropes courses and wish to gain more knowledge and experience, along with a widely recognised qualification.

A Traditional High Ropes course is usually a site that uses roped belay systems where participants belay each other (assisted belay systems), and may include elements such as a Leap of Faith or Jacob’s Ladder.

COURSE DURATION: 4 days

COURSE FEES: £348.00

Contact us for further course information and future dates.

The ERCA Site-Specific Instructor Qualification is aimed at facilities who want staff to be ERCA qualified but only need them to be trained to work on one particular ropes course.

The course will only cover the parts of the syllabus that we decide are relevant to fulfil the required criteria for your particular site, taking into account the variety of ropes course or ropes course elements included in the training.

Upon successfully completing the course the candidates will be issued with the ERCA certificate for Site-Specific Instructor.

The ERCA Conversion Course is designed for existing instructors with a significant amount of experience running activity sessions on traditional ropes courses, who also hold a valid ropes course rescue qualification. This means the training time needed is reduced by approx 50%.

This course aims to qualify instructors to work on traditional ropes courses, covering all types of assisted belay system activities.

COURSE DURATION: 2 days

COURSE FEES: £276.00

The ERCA Adventure Park Instructor qualification covers any ropes courses where the participant remains attached to the safety system throughout the experience.

These are any ropes courses where the participant remains attached to the safety system throughout the experience; i.e. they do not need anyone else to belay them, but they do need to have been taught to operate equipment in order to safety proceed across the elements on the adventure park.

This course will qualify Instructors to work on Adventure Parks with Self Belay Systems.

Continuous Belay Systems are any ropes courses where the participant remains attached to the safety system throughout the experience; i.e. they do not need anyone else to belay them, nor do they need to operate any equipment other than perhaps guiding a connector over a bracket.

This course will qualify Instructors to work on Adventure Parks with Continuous Belay Systems.

COURSE DURATION: 2 days

COURSE FEES: £228.00

The ERCA Generic Rescuer qualification is aimed at instructors who are already ERCA qualified (either for Adventure Park or Traditional Ropes Course) who, as a designated rescuer, need to be able to rescue a customer or member of staff who is stuck at height.

COURSE DURATION: 3 days

COURSE FEES: £280.00

The ERCA Site Specific Rescuer qualification is aimed at instructors who are already ERCA qualified either as an ERCA Site Specific Instructor or as an ERCA Adventure Park Instructor or ERCA Traditional Ropes Course Instructor.

Every site needs designated rescuers who are trained to rescue a customer or member of staff who is stuck at height.  This course will only qualify instructors to perform rescues at one specific site and will focus on systems at that particular site.
