Scottish Winter Mountaineering Courses 2004

Winter Mountaineering Skills

This course covers essential skills and techniques giving a sound introduction to the skills required for safe enjoyment of the Scottish winter mountains. The skills covered will be: moving safely on snow and ice; ice-axe self arrest; navigation & route finding; effective use of ice axe and crampons; avalanche awareness and emergency shelters.

The 5 day course allows the optimum time to consolidate these skills. Together with the option of a one night stay in a snow shelter or mountain bothy this will ensure that this is a memorable week of adventurous training.

The 3 day course provides a solid foundation of the above skills. Two days often passes too quickly for clients who wish to make the most of a long weekend. Two day weekend courses can also be arranged.
