UK Courses - Technical Ropework and Problem Solving
Purpose of Course :
Each student will learn skills that will help solve various fallen/stuck climber/evacuation scenarios that commonly arise in rock climbing.
The Course Will Include: Belayer Positioning, Gear Removal, Rope Drag, Use of karabiners, Leader Falls, Lowering, Descent Routes, Locking Off, Abseiling, Changing Leader, Rope Reversal, Double Ropes, Stance Management, Gear Placement, Guidebook Interpretation, Anchor Angles, Belay Technique.

Examples of situations to be practiced: Second falls and cannot get back onto the rock, Assisted hoist, Second is too tired/mentally drained to continue, Unassisted hoist, Team encounter weather/are late/exhausted/route too hard; time to descend, Leader falls on traverse, how to retrieve/reach them, Tandem Abseil, Counter balance abseil, Multi-pitch abseil, Leader falls, rope too short to lower them back to the stance. Descending a live rope, Ascending a live rope, Abseiling past a knot, Leaving gear behind/value of life, Second climbs past a clipped runner, Route planning exercise, International distress signals, What kit to carry.

Experience requirements - Over 18 years of age
Consolidated knowledge of all aspects of indoor climbing including leading
Consolidated knowledge of all aspects of leading traditional climbs outdoors
Cost - £285.00/per person
Accommodation - Many options available including camping, bunkhouse or B&B (not included in course price, please arrange with instructor assigned to the course)
