ArrampicA KIDZ great fun learning for under 18 climbers only!

There are 4 awards.

The first is TRUST, designed to teach the basics of operating safely under the supervision of an instructor or competent parent/guardian.

The second is BRONZE, designed to teach correct belaying, rope control, tying in, putting on a harness, climbing calls, spotting and safety rules. Along side this climbers must acheive a minimum 30 climbs and 15 of their own boulder problems.

The third is SILVER, designed to teach 4 different belay devices useage and rope control plus checking of equipment condition. Its main goal though is to climb and learn all the neccessary core climbing techniques plus climb 50 coloured indoor routes and create 30 boulder problems.

The fourth and final is GOLD, this recognises that a climber is really commited to climbing and if still under 18, for their continued improvement a parent/guardian has to achieve a fair degree of understanding in the sport of rock climbing. It requires that a climber maintains their Trust, Bronze and Silver skills plus attend outdoor climbing courses with their parent/guardian, also the parent/guardian must attend courses to attain an understanding of the sport. Climbers must climb at a minimum of 2 other centres and create warm up's and be able to climb to a basic but competant climbing grade.

The awards are certificated by ArrampicA Vertical Adventures. Each centre (listed below) runs the awards, instructors are trained to provide correct and up-to-date methods and training to under 18's on the scheme. To sign on to the scheme just click the relevent centre nearest you and call them to arrange a session with one of their instructors, mention that you would like to start your ArrampicA award and away you go, they will train you and at the end of training will assess your knowledge. If a climber completes all the tasks correctly and has climbed/bouldered the correct quantity of climbs then the centre will fax the check list form to ArrampicA. Upon receipt ArrampicA will send out the certificate to the centre where the climber has trained for presentation.

Certificates cost £6.50 each for Trust, Bronze and Silver. Gold is £12.00. This money is sent to ArrampicA at the same time as the centre faxes the completed skills sheet and 28 days should be allowed for delivery of the certificate to the centre.
