Risk Assessments

Risk Assessments are an on-going process in any business and an artificial climbing facility is no different.

ArrampicA will identify risks and make recommendations of how to control any inherent risks.

ArrampicA can offer to be you centres technical advisor.  Attending key meetings periodically, to help you identify risks that you may otherwise have missed.

As ArrampicA visits many different artificial climbing facilities, walls, abseils, high ropes and the like, it allows ArrampicA staff to attend with a wider experience of issues.

Risk assessments would be split per function, course or zone and would be limited to climbing type activities and access to those activities.

Examples may be;

  • Group usage
  • Floor walking
  • Staff access for maintenance
  • Equipment check
  • Critical protocol
  • Bouldering
  • Top roping
  • Lead climbing

Should ArrampicA be contracted to produce all documentation guidelines for a centre, the risk assessments can also be linked to the prevention measures put in place and each year as part of your re-risk assessment and near miss log meetings, ArrampicA can attend these and make guideline changes and where applicable re-train staff to ensure changes are implemented.

Risk assessments will be supplied in column format and are not designed to be exhaustive of risks present.  Over time, re-visiting the previous assessments and identifying problems and potential controlling measures is part of the process.
