Climbing Wall Instructor Training

Arrampica ERCA Climbing Ropes Training Courses

Site-Specific Climbing Wall Instructor Training (Arrampica Syllabus)

Arrampica have created a number of site-specific training courses for instructors and staff (including day-to-day operational staff, duty managers and other more senior management) at climbing wall facilities.

As the title suggests, this is training which is tailored for specific facilities and the learning is focused on the equipment, structures and activities which the staff and participants engage with. Training will also take into account any criteria and best practice currently employed.

Arrampica instructor qualifications will train your staff according to current best practice and relevant legislation, and are recognised by insurance companies. Although these courses are not affiliated to any NGB, this in no way means the training is in any way inferior.

Arrampica deliver training courses across the UK (and, periodically, in Europe and worldwide) so location is never an obstacle.

If you would like to find out more and discuss the specifics of any of these courses, please contact us at info@arrampica.com or call us on 08450 947 923

This course is to qualify staff to supervise climbing activities on a specific indoor or outdoor climbing wall, artificial boulders or towers.

The course will develop the skills and techniques to manage climbing groups in a variety of situations, including bouldering and traverse walls if applicable.  The delivery style and content will be matched to the skills and experience of the candidates and their specific sites.

The course consists of training and assessment.  Depending on the complexities of the site and the experience of the staff there may need to be a consolidation period in between.

The final stage is the assessment where high standards must be achieved.  The assessment has to be held at the specific site for the award to be valid.

All candidates will be given the opportunity to perform to the best of their ability in realistic conditions.

Individual feedback will be given to candidates after the assessment.

If the candidate has satisfied the requirements they will be awarded their Arrampica Site Specific Climbing Instructor qualification. This qualification will remain valid for three years provided the candidate completes an annual CPD day.  To re-validate the award, candidates must be re-assessed.

In the event of a candidate failing to meet the standard required during the assessment, the assessor will discuss with them what they need to improve on and how to proceed.

This course is to qualify staff to supervise abseiling activities on a specific indoor or outdoor climbing wall.

This course develops the skills and techniques required for managing top-roping and abseiling groups on purpose built artificial climbing walls and structures.  The delivery style and content will be matched to the skills and experience of the candidates and their specific sites.

At the end of the course candidates will develop an individual action plan regarding consolidation prior to assessment, including any weaknesses identified during the training course.
